Booking and prices
How do I book?
Use the quote form on the Book page. We confirm the price from our published list and agree a time with you.
What is the minimum booking?
$149. A single shower recess is $149, so it meets the minimum on its own.
Who will do the work?
A vetted, independent local tile cleaner who works under the Adelaide Tile & Grout name for cleaning and sealing, and a licensed tiler for regrouting. You book and pay us, and we look after the booking from start to finish.
How do I pay?
After the job, by a secure payment link from us. Nothing up front, and the cleaner doesn’t take payment on site.
What are your hours?
Quote requests can be sent any time through the form. Put two or three date options in it and we’ll confirm the earliest that works, morning or afternoon.
The clean
What does a tile and grout clean involve?
Pre-treating the tiles and grout with a cleaner matched to the problem, scrubbing each grout line, then rinsing and extracting the dirty solution so it doesn’t dry back into the grout.
Will my grout look new?
Often close to it, but not always. Everyday dirt, soap scum, hard-water film and surface mould usually lift. Grout that has been stained for years may stay a shade darker; colour sealing evens that out.
Do you use bleach?
Not as the main cleaner. Bleach lightens the surface but doesn’t remove what’s inside grout, and it can fade coloured grout. Products are matched to the tile and the problem.
How long until I can use the bathroom?
Usually as soon as the cleaner has finished. If the grout has been sealed, wait for the cure time you’re given, often around 24 hours for a shower.
Can you clean terrazzo, slate or marble?
Terrazzo and slate floors, yes, with neutral products. Marble, travertine and limestone: we clean the grout and the surface gently, but we don’t hone or polish stone, so etching and dull patches in the stone itself need a stone restorer.
Sealing
Should I seal my grout?
If your grout cleans up well and you want it to stay that way, clear sealing is worth it. If it’s patchy or stained after cleaning, colour sealing gives an even finish.
Can new grout be sealed straight away?
New grout usually needs time to cure before it can be sealed. Check with whoever installed it; the grout manufacturer will specify the wait.
Regrouting and repairs
Do you regrout showers?
Yes, through a licensed tiler. It is quoted after an inspection, not from the price list. If the grout is sound and just dirty, we’ll steer you to a clean instead, which is much cheaper.
Do you fix leaking showers?
No. If the leak is only failed grout or silicone, a regrout can solve it. If the waterproofing behind the tiles has failed, you need a waterproofing specialist, and the tiler will tell you if that’s what they see.
Why does regrouting need a licensed tiler when cleaning doesn’t?
In South Australia, cleaning and sealing are not building work, so no licence applies. Regrouting and repair are treated as building work under the state’s building-work rules, so we only have them done by a licensed tiler.
Adelaide conditions
Why is there a white film on my shower tiles?
Adelaide’s mains water carries more dissolved minerals than most Australian cities, and when it dries on tiles it leaves limescale. Mixed with soap it becomes a grey-white film that ordinary sprays don’t shift. A scale remover, agitation and a rinse take it off; sealing the grout makes it easier to keep off.
Why does my bathroom get mouldy in winter?
Because the window stays shut, the fan runs for a minute, and the room never dries between showers. Mould grows wherever it is damp and still. Run the fan longer, crack the window, squeegee the walls, and seal the grout so it holds less water.
When is the best time to book?
Any time. Grout dries fastest in the warmer months, which helps sealing cure, so spring and summer are good for a clean-and-seal. Many people also book before an inspection, a sale or the holidays.
We’re on bore water. Does that matter?
Yes, tell us. Bore water on the northern plains is often high in iron and leaves orange-brown staining in showers and around taps. It needs a different treatment from mould or grease, and the result depends on how long it has built up. A photo helps us set expectations.
What we don’t do
Do you do waterproofing or re-tiling?
No. Waterproofing, leak repairs and re-tiling need a waterproofer or a tiler engaged for that job. We clean, seal and arrange regrouting.
Do you clean driveways, pavers or roofs?
No. Pressure washing of pavers, driveways, concrete, roofs and house washing is handled by our sister brand, PressClean. Outdoor tiles (alfresco, verandah, balcony) are ours.
